
Recent research from the Urban Institute finds that access to FHLBank liquidity supports increased mortgage lending and overall lending activity and lowers borrowing costs for homeowners. An additional Urban Institute study estimates that the FHLBank System delivers between $13 – $21 billion in annual economic value.
FHLBanks provide liquidity through several products, including Advances, Letters of Credit (LOCs), and the Acquired Member Assets (AMA) program.
Each FHLBank independently sets the terms and pricing for its productsand manages its own liquidity and investment portfolios in accordance with regulatory requirements.
